INSURANCE Each participating boat shall present a valid insurance certificate showing proof of third-party liability coverage of at least $10,000,000 AUD or equivalent. RISK STATEMENT Sailing is by its nature, an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that: 

·      They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event. 

·      They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omission.

·      Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate.

·      The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organisers does not relieve them of their own responsibilities. 

·      The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as it can be practically provided in the circumstances. 

·      It is the competitor’s responsibility to familiarise themselves with any risks specific to this venue or this event drawn to their attention in any rules and information produced for the event and to attend any safety briefings held for this event. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 3, Decision to Race. The Organising Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

·      RRS 3 states: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.’ By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes.
